WEST DARTMOOR WORKING
GUNDOG CLUB
SETTER AND POINTER TRIAL
BOWES MOOR, CO. DURHAM
19th July 2011
By kind permission of Mr
Roma
Judges:
Mrs J G Organ and
Mr J Naylor
Head Keeper: Scott Fallon
Gun: Tom Clegg
Field Trial Sec and Chief
Steward: Anthony Eldred:
Weather always plays a vital part in this annual trial and
this year produced near perfect conditions with light winds
and dry conditions. Scott Fallon, head keeper on Bowes Moor,
took us to the southern side of the moor, where we set off
with fourteen brace. There was a plentiful supply of birds
in good sized coveys holding together well and producing
plenty of opportunity for the dogs. Judges Julie Organ and
John Naylor took the dogs through the first round before a
break for lunch, which was taken on the moor.
The judges took five brace through to the second round
where, once again, there was a good supply of birds allowing
the judges to test the dogs fully and resulting in first and
second places being awarded, together with two certificates
of merit, (full details below).
It is a great privilege for us to hold our trial at Bowes,
for which we thank Mr Roma. The Club is extremely grateful
to Scott Fallon and his team for their hard work in making
our day run smoothly and successfully, we wish Mr Roma,
Scott and his team a successful shooting season.
